The PCM Switch is installed at the site alongside a Single Site Interconnect. In its simplest configuration the switch may be used to allow patching between base station ports and the PSTN/PABX telephone network as well as line dispatcher terminal. The PCM family consists of a 2U single card, to a multi card 6U chassis. The PCM offers a choice of the analogue cards or the E1/ T1 digital cards.
The Main Features of Fylde Regional MPT Trunking System Audio Routing: PCM
In a multisite system a 6U PCM Switch is installed at the Regional node alongside the Regional Control Processor and allows the routing of audio paths between base station sites. Additionally, the switch may be used to allow patching between base station ports and the PSTN/PABX telephone network as well as Line Dispatcher terminal. Also used for Inter-Regional connections.
